Lenses

It is important to realize that different types of lenses can assist in different visual needs, it is important to find the right lens type for your personal needs.

Some spectacle lenses can make distance vision or near vision clearer.

Some lenses can alleviate visual strain, whether you are spending the whole day working on the computer, or just use your phone to keep up on news or social media.

There are so many different lens options available, and that’s not even talking about all those little extra’s that can make such a significant difference in visual performance. So where to start?

Here are 4 easy steps to choosing the right lens for you:

1. Choose your lens type

Single Vision Lenses

Single vision lenses are the ideal solution for people, who are only short-sighted or only long-sighted.

Single vision lenses only corrects for one distance.

Here you have a choice between Spherical or Aspherical lenses:

Aspherical lenses offer optimum vision by minimizing peripheral distortions. This also minimizes the effect of the lenses making our eyes look bigger or smaller, depending on the script.

Office Lenses

These lenses are ideal for the office environment:

Here you have a choice between:

  • Office Near: Clear from reading distance (±40cm) to workplace distance (±1.2m).
  • Office Room: Clear from reading distance (±40cm) to room distance (±4m).

Progressive Lenses (of Multifocal Lenses)

Multifocal lenses are the ideal solution for people who wish to have a combination of close-up, intermediate (workplace) and distance vision, all in one lens.

Choose between:

Basic Progressive Advanced Freeform Progressive

With the latest freeform design lenses, we can offer you a much wider field of view, with less distortions in the periphery.

2. Choose your lens material

Optimise your lenses by choosing your lense thickness & weight.

With the different lens materials:

  • Basic (1.5)
  • Standard (1.6)
  • Special (1.67)
  • High-tech (1.74)

Your lenses could be made up to 40% thinner and lighter.

3. Choose your lens coatings

After choosing your lens type and material, we now move on to lens coatings.

Here you have a choise between:

  • Anti-scratch coatings – offers optimum protection against scrathes.
  • Anti-reflection coatings – reduces reflections on the lens and minimise glare, anti- reflection coatings also offers protections againts scratches.

4. Choose between clear of photochromatic lenses

With your lenses completely optimised to your indivudial lifestyle and astetic requirements, the last decision to make, is whether to have your lenses go dark outside or not.

Photochromatic or Self-tinting lenses, reacts automatically to changing light conditions to become dark outdoors and clear indoors:

5. Choose i.Scription

Improved night vision, contrast and richer color perception has become a reality for people who have chosen ZEISS customized lenses featuring i.Scription® technology.

What is i.Scription®?

i.Scription® technology consists of three elements:

  1. The i.Profiler®plus is an instument using wavefront technology to determine your exact visual profile (which is as unique as a fingerprint). During the examination process, your eyes are measured at more than 2,500 reference points to detect even the smallest impediment to perfect vision. The i.Profiler®plus further enables optometritst to take measurements of your dilated pupils, to measure vision under night-time conditions.
  2. i.Scription® software then combines the information of the i.Profiler®plus with your optometrist’s subjective refraction, creating a prescription that is accurate to 1/100th of a dioptre, and is optimised for your unique visual fingerprint.
  3. The i.Scription® data is then used to make ZEISS customised lenses.

What it does

“Visual noise” such as reduced contrast, blur or halos around bright lights, can reduce the clarity of your vision. By individually compensating for your unique profile, with all its little imperfections, ZEISS customized lenses using i.Scription® let you enjoy clearer, crisper, more relaxed vision.

Better Vision at Night Better Contrast Better Colour Perception
